Indiana whitewater - Mill Creek, Owen County Owen county, Cataract Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     1 miles   If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Bloomington, as you can see on the road map further down. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you     won't find many other paddling spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Mill Creek is 1 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The wonderful Owen County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: Mill Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain while January is usually the driest month. It's always good to pop by Lower Cataract Falls, and do put some time aside to spend at Upper Cataract Falls since you're here at Mill Creek. At Mill Creek during the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures   plunge down into the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Mill Creek fall into the 10's.
