Indiana whitewater - Rock Creek, Huntington County Huntington county, County Road 200 to 150 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     1.75 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Indiana you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The wonderful Indiana scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Rock Creek have people coming here. The County Road 200 to 150 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Rock Creek. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The put-in is not too far from Huntington, there's a road map further down the page     with more info on that. The campgrounds here at Rock Creek are pretty good. This stretch of Rock Creek in Huntington County is 1.75 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of precipitation falls at Rock Creek; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. Throughout the warmest time of the year at Rock Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's. For   the period of the moonlight hours it's typically in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Rock Creek plunge into the 10's.
