If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations     you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at Sugar Creek are pretty good. This stretch of Sugar Creek in Montgomery County is 1.2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Crawfordsville, as you can see on the road map further down. The Darlington stretch is the only paddling stretch along Sugar Creek. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with not too many other rivers for that.
