The wonderful Kenton County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a short drive from Cincinnati-Middletown, as you can see on the road map further down. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. This stretch of Banklick Creek in Kentucky is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. The Independence Station Road to Doe Run confluence stretch is the only paddling stretch along Banklick
| Creek. The average Kentucky whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.
Briefly about the general area:
Banklick Creek gets a good deal of water; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest of the months is February. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Banklick Creek get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while Banklick Creek overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's.
