If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This section of Boone Creek in Fayette/Clark County is 6.3 miles long and has been rated as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in is not too far from Lexington-Fayette, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are
probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that. There are no other sections to paddle along Boone Creek than the Kentucky 418 Bridge to Kentucky River section.
Briefly about the general area: Boone Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; July is the wettest month with most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. For the duration of the summer, highs commonly are in the 80's at Boone Creek. Summer night lows descend down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Boone Creek temperatures descend to the 20's.
