The starting location is a short drive from Corbin, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Cumberland River in Kentucky is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Kentucky and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from
near and far. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your sleeping bag. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you've
been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Kentucky you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Cumberland Falls to Laurel River stretch is just one of many. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have
to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Cumberland River without first going for a hike along the Bark Camp Trail,

Cumberland River nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's. The high level of rainfall makes Cumberland River a rather wet place; during May this area sees the most rain; October on the other hand is the driest.
