The wonderful Whitley/McCreary County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The beauty of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The nearby hotels are a bit away from
the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section of Cumberland River is 12 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either
way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Redbird Kentucky204 Bridge to Cumberland Falls section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Corbin, as you can see on the road map further down.

the wintertime are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Cumberland River. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cumberland River a wet site; May is when you get the most rain here, and October is when it's the driest.
