If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The Cumberland to Harlan section of Cumberland River - Poor Fork is 23.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other
paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cumberland River - Poor Fork than the Cumberland to Harlan stretch. The wild scenery of the Cumberland
Plateau Mountains is great. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too.
