A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so it looks like you will be camping out. The campgrounds here at Gasper River are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do     book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Bucksville Road to Barren River section of Gasper River is 35 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Bowling Green, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Bucksville Road to Barren River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Gasper River. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Gasper River throughout the summertime are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while Gasper River overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are   in the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Gasper River a wet place; through March this area sees the most rain; October meanwhile is the driest month.
