Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Kentucky is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. A
    section like this is is of course not run in a single day, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other
paddling rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The Bucksville Road to Barren River section of Gasper River in Logan  
/ Warren County is 35 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.

Briefly about the general area:
A wonderful location near Gasper River is Richelieu Hollow, and Gasper River is not far at all from Rockfield. Gasper River commonly gets a great deal of rainfall. March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. High temperatures at Gasper River through the long summer days are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. During the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Gasper River during the winter usually dip into the 20's.
