Kayaked from 329 to 42 ... weather was great ... about 5 spots that you will need to get out and walk ... what an excellent paddle. Says Brendan
The average Kentucky whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Louisville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Kentucky 53 to Ohio River stretch of Harrod's Creek in Oldham/Jefferson County is 30
miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The Kentucky 53 to Ohio River section is the only paddling section along Harrod's Creek. The natural beauty of Oldham/Jefferson County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough
to come here and paddle. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came.
