Says Brendan This section of Harrod's Creek is 30 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Kentucky is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some     time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling section along Harrod's Creek. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Louisville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The scenic beauty of Oldham/Jefferson County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. Briefly about the general area: A good deal of rainfall falls at Harrod's Creek; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.   All through the days of summer, highs regularly are in the 80's at Harrod's Creek. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Harrod's Creek.
