Kentucky whitewater - Hickman Creek, Jessamine County Jessamine county, Brumfield Lane to 1268 Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II(III)     4 miles   I have been rideing this strectch of creek about 4 times a summer for the past six years. Woundn't call it rapids though, most of the time it is quite shallow, alot of packing your boat. Flood water is a differt story. It's quite dangerouse but it can be done, I was able to navigate 9 miles of the creek while flooding before I lost my kayak to the creek. Beautiful ride though, bring a fishing pole, lots of small fish! If you're coming from Lexington-Fayette it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The nature scenery of Kentucky and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section of Hickman Creek in Kentucky is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class II(III) section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For   all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the months of summer highs here at Hickman Creek get into the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows all through the winter for Hickman Creek tend to be in the 20's. Hickman Creek frequently gets a large amount of rainfall; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest month is October.
