Kentucky whitewater - Hickman Creek, Jessamine County Jessamine county, Brumfield Lane to 1268 Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II(III)     4 miles   I have been rideing this strectch of creek about 4 times a summer for the past six years. Woundn't call it rapids though, most of the time it is quite shallow, alot of packing your boat. Flood water is a differt story. It's quite dangerouse but it can be done, I was able to navigate 9 miles of the creek while flooding before I lost my kayak to the creek. Beautiful ride though, bring a fishing pole, lots of small fish! The wonderful Kentucky scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Brumfield Lane to 1268 Bridge section is one of them.   The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Throughout the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Hickman Creek drop into the 20's. Hickman Creek is a quite wet place commonly with a lot of rain; most of the rain falls through May; October is when it's the driest.
