If you're coming from Lexington-Fayette it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Old Stone Church Road to Kentucky River stretch of Howard's Creek is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III(IV) section by American Whitewater. Howard's Creek doesn't have a
lot of paddling sections, the Old Stone Church Road to Kentucky River section is the only one. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.

All through the warm months at Howard's Creek highs are ordinarily in the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 60's.
