CLASS II-III(IV) 5 miles
This section of Howard's Creek is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(IV) section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Kentucky tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature
are great reasons to come. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The natural beauty of Clark County and the water flowing gracefully down Howard's Creek attract people from near
and far. Howard's Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Old Stone Church Road to Kentucky River stretch is the only one. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lexington-Fayette, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
