This section of Little Sandy River in Kentucky is 27 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. This is the only paddling stretch along Little Sandy River. The average Kentucky whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated     and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Cumberland Plateau Mountains scenery is an added bonus. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Little Sandy River is a good place of common rainfall; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the summertime months at Little Sandy River temperatures   are mostly in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's; night lows at Little Sandy River through the winter regularly sink into the 10's.
