The natural beauty of Kentucky and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience.     The Sandy Hook to Grayson Lake section is the only paddling section along Little Sandy River. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Kentucky are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Little Sandy River, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are frequently in the   40's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Little Sandy River. From a rainfall point of view Little Sandy River is a reasonably typical place; most of the rain falls during August while February is typically the driest month.
