CLASS II(III)     6 miles
  This stretch of Otter Creek is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. The wonderful Madison County scenery and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The West Fork to Kentucky388 Bridge section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Kentucky you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that
    many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but
do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're coming from Richmond it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came.

like Fort Boonesborough State Park are magnificent to visit, and lots of folks from Richmond come here. A large amount of rain falls at Otter Creek. The wettest month of the year is mostly July, that's the one that rains the most while October is frequently the driest month. At Otter Creek during the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Otter Creek nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's.
