  The West Fork to Kentucky388 Bridge section of Otter Creek in Madison County is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(III) section. The starting point is not too far from Richmond, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The wonderful Madison
    County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Kentucky are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy.

Briefly about the general area:
Otter Creek is a relatively wet place regularly with much precipitation; July is the month that gets the most rain while October is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
For the duration of the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Otter Creek while nighttime lows are generally in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Otter Creek are in the 20's.
