  Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Kentucky are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're coming from Louisville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance
    then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Wilsonville to Salt River stretch of Plum Creek is 8.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. The Wilsonville to Salt River section is
the only paddling section along Plum Creek. The wonderful Spencer County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Plum Creek attract people from near and far. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
During the warm months, highs typically are in the 80's at Plum Creek. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's,
 
and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Plum Creek temperatures drop to the 20's. While staying at Plum Creek you could always look at Feather Bed Hollow.
Plum Creek gets a lot of water; the wettest month of the year is typically March, that's the one that rains the most, and October is the month with the least moisture.
