Kentucky whitewater - Plum Creek, Spencer County

Spencer county, Wilsonville to Salt River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II(III)     8.9 miles
The natural beauty of Spencer County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. If you're coming from Louisville it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Kentucky are often more forgiving than
in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Plum Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Wilsonville to Salt River stretch
is the only one. The Wilsonville to Salt River section of Plum Creek is 8.9 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
