The beautiful scenery of Kentucky and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The starting location is a short drive from Somerset, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Kentucky are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep
in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and
just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The Barthell to Big South Fork stretch is the only paddling stretch along Roaring Paunch River. rain around here, and October is when it's the driest. Natural Bridge Hollow is a perfect site to spend some time at, and don't leave Roaring Paunch River without first checking out Devils Jump. Just can't get enough of the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Summertime highs at
Roaring Paunch River generally tend to be in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's with temperatures at Roaring Paunch River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
