The natural beauty of Aroostock County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an     area with not too many other spots for that. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Big Black River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Depot Stream to Saint John River section is the only one.
