The scenic beauty of Oxford County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less demanding. There are no other stretches to paddle along Black Brook than the Devils Den to Ellis River stretch. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because
it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting some good exercise and a chance
to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This stretch of Black Brook in Oxford County is 4 miles long and is a class IV-V+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful.
Briefly about the general area: The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Black Brook. Through the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Black Brook fall into
the-10's. Black Brook gets a common amount of rain; most of the rain falls during August; the driest month is February. Silver Ripple Cascade is an inspiring location to have a look at while here; if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Angel Falls Trail. Having a good time in the White Mountains is painless.
