This section of Cathance Stream in Maine is 18 miles long and it is classified as a class I-V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Washington County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
    if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. This is the only paddling section along Cathance Stream. There's camping available near Cathance
Stream.

Briefly about the general area:
Cathance Stream sees pretty high levels of rainfall; November is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest. All through the months of summer at Cathance Stream highs are typically in the 80's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's. During the winter highs are generally in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Cathance Stream.
A short trip to Stoddard Rips is always worthwhile, and Ayers Rips is an inspiring place to have a look at while here.
