CLASS I-V     18 miles
  This stretch of Cathance Stream is 18 miles long and is a class I-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Maine and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The Lake Cathance to Dennysville stretch is the only paddling
    stretch along Cathance Stream. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag.
The campgrounds here at Cathance Stream are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
All through the summertime at Cathance Stream temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Cathance Stream temperatures fall to the 0's. Lots of precipitation falls at Cathance Stream; November is the
 
wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
It's always fine to visit Stoddard Rips; Ayers Rips is a brilliant local attraction.
