  The nature scenery of Washington County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. This stretch of Chase Mills Stream in Washington County is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in
    advance you're all set. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. There's camping available near Chase Mills Stream. A good workout
and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. Chase Mills Stream doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Gardner Lake to East Machias section is the only one.
