The scenic beauty of Maine and the water flowing gracefully down Cold Stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Tomhegan Stream to Kennebec River stretch of Cold Stream is 11.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are no other sections to paddle along Cold Stream than the Tomhegan Stream to Kennebec River section. Getting some good exercise
and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The
nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
