The nature scenery of Maine and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There's camping available near Crooked River. The wild scenery of the White Mountains is great. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the     sections here are safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Albany to North Waterford stretch is just one of them. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Crooked River while night lows are generally in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's, and overnight lows throughout the winter for Crooked River tend to be in the-10's. But wait, there's more   cool things to do in the White Mountains. From a rainfall point of view Crooked River is a quite common spot; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is February. Take a hike on the Albany Brook Trail; hiking along the Albany Mountain Trail is wonderful fun.
