Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine are easier than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This stretch of Crooked River is 12 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The North Waterford to East Waterford section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Getting a good workout and spending     some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: The annual precipitation here at Crooked River is about average; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. All through the summertime months highs here at Crooked River reach the 70's with night   lows in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Crooked River.
