The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The starting point is not too far from Augusta-Waterville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch
of Damariscotta River is 1.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The nature scenery of Maine and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Damariscotta River than the Reversing Falls stretch.
