  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far
    and near. The nature scenery of Maine and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag.
And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.

A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Dead River; July is when you get the most rain here; February on the other hand is the driest.
At Dead River through the summertime highs are in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Dead River.
