Maine whitewater - Enchanted Stream, Somerset County Somerset county, to Dead River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     9 miles   This stretch of Enchanted Stream is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Maine are easier than the national norm, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The to Dead River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Enchanted Stream. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.     The natural beauty of Somerset County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The campgrounds here at Enchanted Stream are pretty good. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: From a rainfall point of view Enchanted Stream is a relatively common place; most of the rain falls during July, and February meanwhile is the driest month. All through the warm months highs here at Enchanted Stream reach the 70's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's.
