  The wonderful Aroostook County scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Round Pond to Ferguson Brook section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Round Pond to Ferguson Brook stretch of Fish River in Maine is 5.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle,
    suitable for an afternoon trip. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great
exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Go for a hike on the Fox Brook Trail, and a journey to Skew Falls will fill your spirit with good feelings. Summertime highs at Fish River regularly tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 10's, and overnight lows through the winter for Fish River tend to be in the-10's.
Going for
 
a hike on the Island Pond Trail is always a perfect adventure. Fish River gets a normal amount of rain; the wettest month of the year is commonly August, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest.
