This stretch of Fish River in Aroostook County is 10.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-V section by American Whitewater. The Soldier Pond to Saint John River stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this     river system. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The campgrounds here at Fish River are pretty good. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
