A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting     or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The West Grand Lake to Big Lake stretch is the only paddling stretch along Grand Lake Stream. The campgrounds here at Grand Lake Stream are pretty good.
