  The Brattle Street to Leighs Mill Pond stretch of Great Works River in Maine is 1 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The campgrounds here at Great Works River are pretty good. The Brattle Street to Leighs Mill Pond section is the only paddling section along Great Works River. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Great exercise
    and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The nature scenery of Maine and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Great Works River, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Great Works River are in the 10's. Great Works River sees pretty high levels of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain, and January is when it's the driest.
