  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. This stretch of Kennebec River is 3.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV section of whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Harris Station Dam to Carry Brook stretch is one of many paddling stretches in
    this river system. The nature scenery of Somerset County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Since you're on
this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers.
