Maine whitewater - Kennebec River, Somerset County
Somerset
county,
Carry Brook to Forks section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 7.8 miles
The nature scenery of Somerset County and the water flowing gracefully down Kennebec River make the trip here worthwhile. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect
for a one day trip. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper
you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
