If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. This section of Kingsbury Stream is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The scenic beauty of Piscataquis County and the water flowing gracefully down Kingsbury Stream are in themselves reasons enough to
come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This is the only paddling stretch
along Kingsbury Stream. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that.
Briefly about the general area: Kingsbury Stream sees pretty high levels of precipitation; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. High temperatures at Kingsbury Stream through the days of summer are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's.
The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Kingsbury Stream dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
