The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Big Machias Lake to Aroostook River section is the only paddling section along Machias River. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
