  The Third East Branch to First East Branch stretch of Magalloway River in Oxford County is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-IV section of whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Maine and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons
    to come. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Third East Branch to First East Branch section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are
suitable for beginners. There's camping available near Magalloway River.

Magalloway River is a relatively wet place ordinarily with a great deal of precipitation; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.
