This stretch of Martin Stream is 16 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. The beautiful scenery of Penobscot County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This is the only paddling section along
Martin Stream. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff.
