The Millinocket Lake to Libby Camp stretch of Millinocket Stream in Maine is 9 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Maine and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There are no other stretches to paddle along Millinocket Stream than the Millinocket Lake to Libby Camp stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around
here you'll find a large number of good places. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short
distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Munsungan Lake Tote Road is always a brilliant adventure. Near Millinocket Stream you locate the Millinocket Lake Tote Road which is a wonderful hiking trail, and if you're keen on cool geologic features try Devils Elbow. Millinocket Stream gets a normal amount of rainfall;
throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. At Millinocket Stream throughout the months of summer highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Millinocket Stream dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
