The scenic beauty of Washington County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camp stove. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so don't forget     that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
