The wonderful Piscataquis County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Nahmakanta Stream is 5.3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. There are no other stretches to paddle along Nahmakanta Stream than the Nahmakanta Lake to Pemadumcook Lake stretch. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Blue Trail. Nahmakanta Stream gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; through July this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. At Nahmakanta Stream during the warm months highs are in the 70's with overnight   lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with temperatures at Nahmakanta Stream dipping down into the-10's during winter nights.
