The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often more forgiving than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Deer Lake to Deblois section is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The scenic beauty of Washington County and the playfulness of the water
will make you feel great. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Deer Lake to Deblois stretch of Narraguagus River in Washington County is 25 miles long and
it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
Briefly about the general area: Narraguagus River is a wet location that gets a large amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest month is February. Summertime at Narraguagus River comes with high temperatures in the 70's; during summer nights temperatures
are in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 20's, and nighttime lows all through the wintertime for Narraguagus River tend to be in the 0's. There's perfect hiking along the Lead Mountain Trail.
