The beautiful scenery of Washington County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There's camping available near Old Stream. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that
    rivers here are less demanding. There are no other sections to paddle along Old Stream than the Second Lake to Machias River section. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Summer brings highs in the 70's to Old Stream, and the nighttime is slightly chillier of course, frequently in the 50's.
