The natural beauty of Penobscot County and the water flowing gracefully down Passadumkeag River beats anything. The put-in location is a short drive from Bangor, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are
great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This stretch of Passadumkeag River is 0.8 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according
to American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is a very short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
