This section of Penobscot River - East Branch is 38 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions
    for lots of people. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Now this is a pretty long section, so make sure you pack enough food along with your
camping gear. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Grand Lake Matagamon to Whetstone Falls section is just one of them. The campgrounds here at Penobscot River - East Branch are pretty good.
