  The beautiful scenery of Somerset County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether
    you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This section of Penobscot River - West Branch in Somerset County is 2.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp
