The Blanchard to Upper Abbot stretch of Piscataquis River in Maine is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Blanchard to Upper     Abbot section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. The campgrounds here at Piscataquis River are pretty good. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
