  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Maine is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The scenic beauty of Piscataquis County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Kokadjo to Moosehead lake stretch of Roach River in Maine is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time
    outdoors will have you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Roach River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches,
the Kokadjo to Moosehead lake stretch is the only one.

Briefly about the general area:
There are nice locations to look at along the Big Spencer Mountain Trail. An average amount of rain falls at Roach River; through July this area sees the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
Through the summer months highs here at Roach River get into the 70's, and the night is slightly cooler of course, mostly in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 20's with temperatures at Roach River dipping down into the-10's during winter nights.
