The average Maine whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd     better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The Limington Rips section of Saco River is 0.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II+(IV) section. The put-in location is a short drive from Portland-South Portland, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: At Saco River throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are typically in the 20's, and nighttime lows through the winter   for Saco River tend to be in the 0's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Saco River a wet location; throughout November this area sees the most rain, and September on the other hand is the driest.
