You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that a large number of rivers     in this state are quite easy. This section of Saco River in Maine is 0.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II+(V+) section of whitewater. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Steep Falls section is one of them. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places.
