  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Maine are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The put-in is not too far from Lewiston-Auburn, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Smalls Falls section is just one of them. For all you camping people there are campgrounds
    nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. This section of Sandy River is 0.1
miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places.

Briefly about the general area:
Sandy River is a wet site that gets a good deal of rainfall; November is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. During the summertime months at Sandy River highs are commonly in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's; overnight lows in the 0's for Sandy River.
