This section of Sandy River in Maine is 0.1 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Lewiston-Auburn, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further
    down the page. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The natural beauty of Maine and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. There's
camping available near Sandy River. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is a very short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes.

Lots of people from Canton come to Sandy River, and why not head up to Titcomb and strap some skis to your feet. Places like Mt. Blue State Park are delightful to visit. Sandy River frequently gets lots of rainfall. November is when you get the most rain here; February meanwhile is the driest month. High temperatures at Sandy River all through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 20's with temperatures at Sandy River dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights.
