The South Branch to Phillips section of Sandy River is 5.8 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Maine you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There's camping available near Sandy River. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length     for a morning trip. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more.
